Five and a quarter miles on Lon Gwyrfai from Rhyd Ddu to Beddgelert.

Friday morning and the weather is good until mid afternoon, Sue came up with two walks and this one was not by the sea so I chose this one. A fresh cold morning when we left the car in Beddgelert and waited some few minutes for the bus. The bus dropped us in Rhyd-Ddu for the princely sum of five pounds twenty. This is a new track put in last year and this is our second time, a good walk for wet weather as it is paths and forest tracks all the way. The first part is a raised path crossing a large patch of boggy land alongside Lynn-y-Gader from here we enter the outer reaches of Beddgelert Forest and it is a forest walk for most of the way. En route we get views of Snowdon, today covered in snow. We pass a few farms and in the summer you may see the WHR trains going back and too. Today we saw two RAF jet trainers and that was all, we didn't pass a single person on the path. There is a gallery with tea room if you need refreshments and before you know it you reach Beddgelert Campsite, we camped here in days gone by with our caravan. A few minutes later you see the roof tops of Beddgelert and that is it walk done.
