Five miles around Chester

Saturday again, where can we go? Chester was the idea we came up with, at Tarvin we thought we had made the wrong decision but the queue soon vanished. Driving into Chester we noticed a new Aldi and Home Bargains on the right so when we got round the triangle we doubled back and parked there. Soon we were on the canal passing the Water works and then the old shot works. A new Waitrose appeared and a lot of new flats, wildlife everywhere. Before we new it we were at Gorse Stacks and soon we were on the walls. New offices had appeared by Gorse Stacks and some of the car parks had gone. The towpath was closed on the canal beneath the walls here. Soon we were passing the Race course, a funfair in situ complete with ice rink. Then we passed Chester Castle the car park below being full of cars and buses. Before long we were sitting by the river having our picnic and being serenaded by a Frenchman playing an accordion. When we were finished we walked along the river to the Boathouse pub, memories from the past, this was the place to be at night. Then up the road and soon we were back on the towpath heading for the car. A nice five mile walk but not one for a Saturday again, too many people.
